It is time for me to take a break from work and enjoy some down time, some adventure. I decided to seek out my good, dear friend, The_Norse_American, one of the Gatekeepers and a man that has given me the gifts of training at the gym and tactics with arms. Once more, he bestows upon me knowledge so that I may hone my skills further. I rouse him to rekindle his physical training while he sets us up at the range with weaponry. It has only been a few days and we have mustered much travels and activities, talking of the future and plans, our adult years taking hold. Yet, we are warriors, no matter the age or time, the surroundings or setbacks, we push on. Grateful for this time away and with such grand company, I know I will have to return to my domain soon so I squander not these lessons.
While at the range, we train pistols and then combination with rifle. Advancing or close shots. Alternating to expand our prowess. Though I struggle, I know the practice does me good. He makes the work look easy, efficient. I too aim to possess that skill, sharpening my mind, helping me focus on the things I will do once I return.
We celebrate with beer and burgers and enjoy these days, my decision to make the grueling drive worth it for both parties. I have met some unforgettable characters and broadened my scope of the world. A hefty reminder that I know so little about the world, a thought that excites me to experience more, train harder, be better.
*This is a compilation video below. It jumps around. We recorded off and on, merely enjoying the run more than making it feel like work.*
