In my sojourn of sound, I have found that, when purchasing a Metal album, one should always take a look at the reviews. Why, you might wonder? Surely, to educate yourself about said purchase! Or, to make sure it is the right fit for you and your respective genre! Nay!!! It is to bear witness to some of the most clever and creative responses to any creation, daunting typical mentions and quality control. These folks are epic warrior poets, imbuing the already substantial release with a phrase or description unlike any other.
With this in mind, let me present you with some choice examples from various albums I have either purchased or peaked at from curiousness. Prepare yourselves... ITunes *More metal than adamantium (5 Stars) by MetalLink - Nov 8, 2007 Seriously, this is one of the heaviest albums I've ever heard. Definitly hear the Sabbath influence in it. It has that "dragging a body to the river in the fog of night" sound to it. Metal album of the year. (Death Is This Communion by High On Fire) *Finally (4 Stars) by Draugr - Mar 31, 2011 Tocks Taunt - Loke's Treachery Part 2. I have been waiting for this for 800 years. (Surtur Rising by Amon Amarth *We Fear not Deth (5 Stars) by dellllllllll - Sep 29, 2009 Any fan of metal should purchase this album as soon as possible. The fast, precise drumming rivals that of metal legends, the vocals are brutal and could chill a weaker body to the bone, and the guitars intertwine like dueling serpents. A must buy. (Dethalbum II by Dethklok) Bandcamp *Thomas Klæbo Holy Mountain. This lord is leading me to the riff-filled land. Awesome. (Lord Mountain by Lord Mountain) *flightoficarus (Metal Trenches) Nemesis lies on a strong foundation of melodic death and thrash metal, but this house is built of blackened mortar and brutal brick that would make Corpsegrinder nod silent approval. Plenty to love for fans of everything from Black Dahlia Murder to Arch Enemy. Full review here: http://metaltrenches.com/reviews/the-black-and-the-br-46 Favorite track: The Ophidian Resurrection. (Nemesis by The Hudson Horror) *JD Quenzer Biologically speaking the average human requires 10–18 milligrams of iron per day. After listening to these four blistering tracks you will stand little chance of developing anaemia. These four lads from Edinburgh have taken the best of their various influences, forged them together in the hard rock blast furnace, and created new alloys of heavy stoner and classic thrash to name but two. Much like the element iron this EP is both low cost and high strength. I will be seeing them live ASAP.Favorite track: Followers. (IRON ALTAR by IRON ALTAR) *Dean Vincent It's like going to your parent in law's for the first time and walking into the front room to the sound of hauntingly beautiful piano only to find them both sat there wearing face paint and bullet belts. Powerful, cultured, well thought out structures with a heavy symphonic edge that never smothers the great riffs and howling fury of the BM contained within. (Griseus by Aquilus) *Dante This song is full of twists, turns, fast, slow, hate, calm, disgust and everything that I hope to find in metal. The vocals lurking in the shadows of the blasting drums and echoing guitar sing a dark portrait of what Wilds Forlorn has to offer the world of black metal. The utter loathing for life and all its endeavors haunts the lyrics as they come, and the ambience magnifies every word spoken. (Upon the Horns by Wilds Forlorn)
