Well, this is a fine Metal Monday, my fellow lurkers. This whole days seems to exude black and melodic creations, choices of grand power and darkness, haunting tunes aplenty. Not only have I recently stumbled onto some epic tracks (thanks to some of those I follow on Bandcamp) this is also the day I get to showcase The Ruins of Beverast. Exuvia...An album I have noticed many times over and paid little heed to in my journey, always scrolling past it, curious of the amount of collections it dwelled within, the artwork always fascinating yet I never quite chose that path...until I did. It was on whim, some off and wild night I was having, picking tracks at random either due to the cover or "because I felt like it." And this album, the first I have ever heard from The Ruins of Beverast (Bifrost, if you want to know how to pronounce or the meaning of), was a monstrous one. Exuvia is a primal album, full of tribal and shamanistic energy, kindling an old fire within, an ancestral thing. In the beginning, the self-titled track was the one that captivated me most. However, as time went on and I adjusted to the sound and structure I found that the entire album held within it a mountain of wealth. So, it came to be that this album, though individually tracked incredible, it, as a whole, was a giant journey that felt only right when strung together. I shall showcase the first track however I have come to appreciate the entire thing, replaying each track on its own numerous times, eventually understanding the full weight of such a creation. So, I have linked the entire album below for those that wish to delve deeper, and you should for this is a sojourn you shall not forget and one you may very well need. (The last track is AMAZING). Beyond this, I am becoming overwhelmed with the amount of new additions I keep finding as of late, hoping to catch up after the concert run and the Skagos trilogy yet I do not want to complain either, for when there is a dry spell it is even more sorrowful. For now, keep checking back every week for some choice tracks, letting me do the leg work for you to enjoy, like the Messenger of Metal I am. Go forth, you mighty warriors, and grip this week with one hand as you down some mead with the other. Slay this week with fury! Make the days after quiver in fear at your arrival! SEEK THE WEEKEND WITH SAVAGERY!!!! https://theruinsofbeverast.bandcamp.com/album/exuvia The forests of earth should not frighten me But o Mother Gaea, what is this light? Mother Gaea, all those visions - my blood boils! Through feculent warmth I creep on ancient soil Recollection so vivid Let me chant in intoxication... I shall rest here forevermore. Gaia speaks: "...and what if I told you That we've been on a glade here And the grim trees ahead Are none of my creatures And those golden rays are not thrown from a sun And your necrotic scales merely struggle through lava ...would your eyes turn cloudy?"
