Well, wasn't really motivated to do a showcase however Alaic (As Long As I Can) has compelled me to do so. Blackened folk metal from Brazil? Sold! The Harvest (both the song and the album) have lured me in, called from the southern mountains that lurk so far from the familiar northern ones. It is a welcome gift and I look forward to delving into the previous albums which I picked up on Bandcamp for a steal and I recommend you to do the same. I am a sucker for solo artists and this one once again solidifies the power and prowess a single person can muster.
I stumbled onto this album late last night and have not had enough time to fully delve into this album but I can tell you that The Harvest track is stellar with strong beginning vocal mixup and a great instrumental second half. Pleasant Sound Of Crows has my ear as well however the last track, Summer Haze, has surprised me a bit as well. Let us journey together and explore this unique and wonderful find, a welcome gift in this trying time.
As always, Brazil always reminds me of my battle brother, The Norse American. His love for that wild place has rubbed off on me and I cannot hear about that place without him coming to mind so this ones for you, you handsome maniac!
ascending, through the night sky
cold and so distant to the earth now
i remember the glorious days
the harvest in the meadow's dawn
taken by the fresh air
filling all my chest
can you feel it?
can you smell it?
cause i can describe the love
i felt when i lay down on the ground
a spark explodes
the coal turns to gold
the legion arise
the eternity doom elevates to the light
